Some of our neighbors were unable to keep up with their yard work due to health issues, which can be challenging in the valley. With the help of the Capital Park Wesleyan Men’s group, the project was completed in just two days.
The first three volunteers cleared the larger items from the yard and took them to the local Transfer Station. Two days later, six more volunteers joined Kristel and Brian to tackle the backyard pileups and overgrown weeds. Over three hours, the group cleared a significant amount of brush, blackberry vines, and grass, transporting two more truckloads to the station. It was an impressive team effort.
According to leader David Thompkins; the men meet every second Saturday of the month at 8am, for breakfast, at the Capital Park Fellowship hall. Usually, the breakfast is followed by a brief Bible Study or Christian testimony by one of the men, or a guest speaker. With the annual retreat coming up in October, the next breakfast meeting takes place on November 9th.
The group is interested to hear about the community’s needs—yard clean-up, gutter clean-up, leaf raking, etc—, and invites any men looking for community, to join them for breakfast.
