Happy Birthday SESNA!

Today, March 1, 2023, is SESNA’s 47th birthday!

The Southeast Salem Neighborhood Association (SESNA) was formed on March 1, 1976 in Salem, Oregon. Its initial purpose was to address concerns about crime and safety in the neighborhood, which was experiencing a rise in property crime and vandalism.

Over the years, SESNA has evolved to become an active community organization that works to improve the quality of life in the neighborhood. This includes advocating for better infrastructure, promoting sustainable practices, and organizing community events.

Some of the notable accomplishments of SESNA include the creation of a community garden, the establishment of a neighborhood park, and the installation of traffic calming measures on neighborhood streets.

SESNA is run by a volunteer board of directors, and membership is open to anyone who lives or owns property in the neighborhood. The organization holds regular meetings and encourages community participation in its activities.

Today, SESNA continues to be an important part of the Southeast Salem community, working to promote a vibrant and livable neighborhood for all residents.
