Safer and stronger, in a diverse community

All of us are part of a neighborhood, a city, a culture… a community. The fact that you choose to read this, probably means you want that community to be strong and healthy.

The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) has launched a new campaign website ‘Safe + Strong‘ that provides community resources on how to deal with COVID-19. To reach as many people as possible, the information is available in twelve different languages, reflecting the diversity of our State.

On diversity

Many interesting graphs and maps on Salem’s diversity, as it existed in 2018, can be found at the Statistical Atlas. HomeSnacks lists Salem as the 12th most diverse city in Oregon, after places such as Hillsboro, Beaverton and Woodburn.

Did you know Salem has its own multicultural celebratory organization: World Beat. Every year they organize many events from concerts, over a boat race to the grand World Beat festival in Riverfront Park. Even under the current pandemic, many concerts and cultural talks are streamed online.
